FLEA & TICK PREVENTION
Spring is here and that means the Fleas and Ticks are out also. The last thing I want to think about are these pesky bugs. Becoming proactive in the prevention of fleas and ticks are essentials for good pet hygiene.
Mona and Bebe both get treated with Frontline. I have used it on every pet I’ve ever had. It’s been my go to for prevention. I also like that I only have to apply it once per month. The key is making sure you have the right dosage for your dog. I make sure to ask my vet what the best option and treatment would be best for both Mona and Bebe. It’s extremely important to understand that the weight of the dog is very important in administering the correct dosage. If the correct dosage isn’t given it can be fatal.
It is very sandy where I live in Minnesota with my dogs and family. We are more prone to fleas. Ticks not only here but all across the country are becoming a huge problem. They are gross to begin with and they are pesky to remove. Ticks can carry Lyme disease. Not only are dogs at risk for these bugs but people are also. They vary in size and it’s very important to check your dog’s coat and boy when coming in from outside.
Side note: There are vaccines available for your dog for Lyme Disease. Before moving forward with the vaccine. Ask your breeder and vet what the benefits and risks are for your particular breed.
